Found some 3/16" x 3′ brass rounds at Lowe’s this weekend. For the uninitiated (as I was prior to finding this), a "round" is a long and thin piece of metal…much like a piece of wire that doesn’t bend very easily.
Which leads me to my questions…
What’s the best way to cut this? I have a jigsaw, which I think would work fine assuming I have the right blade.
What’s the best way to bend and mold this? What I want to do is very simple…I just want to bend it in such a way that I can create a custom-sized holder for an object I want to display.
The top half of this ornament hanger I found on Amazon is the best depiction of what I am trying to recreate…

Appreciate your input.
Pacman,
Great info, thank you! Building off your advice on how to bend it, I think that’ll work good on the wide bend, but for the smaller bends, I think the width of the round is just a little too thick to easily bend it in such a small way. Could heat be the answer? If I were to apply, let’s, say, a blowtorch to the round for a couple seconds, wouldn’t that make the round a little more pliable, at least temporarily? And would that tarnish the brass?
papaXmas,
Thank you too, that’s the info I need. Can I ask one additional question? I’m thinking of moving away from brass and instead moving to a silver metal. Something that would heat and bend easily using a handheld blowtorch. Even picked up a Wire Bending Jig today to make sure my bends are even. What type of metal rod would I have to get from that special section at Lowe’s?
I’ve read online that I’m supposed to use a mild steel, but if memory serves, I think what they have is call weldable steel. Think that would work? My goal after bending the rods are to spray them with an antique brass color spray paint, so essentially, they’re going to end up with the same look.
Thanks again!
